The Geological Society of America The Geological Society of America (GSA) is a global professional society with a growing membership of more than 19,500 individuals in over 85 countries. The mission of GSA is to be a leader in advancing the geosciences, enhancing the professional growth of its members, and promoting the geosciences in the service of humankind.




HMS Beagle Project The HMS Beagle Project will construct a replica of the HMS Beagle and sail to Boston with a facsimile of the 1st edition Origin that Darwin posted to Harvard in 1859. The ship will continue along the east coast calling at ports and host pubic events. The Beagle will have young scientists, mentors and specialists in science education and public outreach aboard (some from the US) and material generated during the voyage and on shore expeditions will be made freely available to labs and classrooms via the internet.

Lyme Regis Fossil Festival - Rising Seas Lyme Regis Fossil Festival - Rising Seas enables people, particularly the young, to engage with a mix of national scientific organisations and leading regional universities in an entertaining, informative way that leaves them wanting to know more. The formula seems to work and we plan to establish this as an annual participative natural sciences event that blends the study of the past with contemporary scientific issues.
