The HMS Beagle Project will construct a replica of the HMS Beagle and sail to Boston with a facsimile of the 1st edition Origin that Darwin posted to Harvard in 1859. The ship will continue along the east coast calling at ports and host pubic events. The Beagle will have young scientists, mentors and specialists in science education and public outreach aboard (some from the US) and material generated during the voyage and on shore expeditions will be made freely available to labs and classrooms via the internet. |
