National Academy of Sciences (NAS) The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) is an honorific society of distinguished scholars engaged in scientific and engineering research, dedicated to the furtherance of science and technology and to their use for the general welfare. Members and foreign associates of the Academy are elected in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research; election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors that can be accorded a scientist or engineer.




National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) The National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS), a research center of the University of California, Santa Barbara, supports crossdisciplinary research on fundamental and applied problems in ecology and allied fields. Collaborative teams synthesize and analyze existing data on specific issues such as loss of biotic diversity, global change, and over-exploitation of natural resources. NCEAS also develops ecoinformatics access tools that are setting the standard for the discipline.




National Science Resources Center The National Science Resources Center’s mission is to improve the learning and teaching of science in school districts in the United States and throughout the world. The NSRC employs strategies that are informed by research, incorporate best practices, and leverage change through the development of strategic partnerships.




National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), founded in 1944 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is the largest organization in the world committed to promoting excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all. NSTA's current membership of more than 55,000 includes science teachers, science supervisors, administrators, scientists, business and industry representatives, and others involved in and committed to science education.




Pinellas County Environmental Management Department The Pinellas County Environmental Management Department works to protect the lakes, streams, air quality, and natural environment of Pinellas County. It is also involved in many urban environmental issues through the enforcement of various codes and regulations. It develops and implements management policies for the county's largest lakes, and creates habitat preservation and restoration projects on County property. The department also investigates environmental issues in response to complaints filed by citizens.
