[Laboratory I - Introduction to Plant Structure]

Objective: The objective of this lab is to review the basic tissues and structures important for building land plants. Recognizing these morphological features will be essential to interpreting ancient plant structure and function. Also, documenting how these structures change through time within lineages is a primary datum for evolutionary study. You will be looking at plants in various types of sections (e.g., cross-sections). Your job is to reconstruct the three-dimensional structure of the plant in your mind.
