Hours and directions
Hours
- The UCMP administrative office is open Monday through Friday, 8AM - 4PM.
- Although UCMP is primarily a research institution, there are a limited number of exhibits open to the public. The exhibits can be viewed any time the Valley Life Sciences building is open. Building hours change during holidays and summer, but generally follow the hours of the Bioscience & Natural Resources Library. During regular semester sessions, the hours are generally:
Monday through Thursday, 8AM - 10PM
Friday, 8AM - 5PM
Saturday, 10AM - 5PM
Sunday, 1PM - 10PM
Location
UCMP is located on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley. The main museum office and collections are located in Room 1101 Valley Life Sciences Building (on the bottom floor). Exhibits are located in the atrium areas outside of the museum and on the second floor.

Directions to the Berkeley Campus

Westbound from Highway 24
- Exit at Tunnel Road
- Continue west on Tunnel Road, which becomes Ashby
Avenue at Domingo Avenue (near the Claremont Hotel)
- Continue west on Ashby Avenue to Telegraph Avenue
- Turn right onto Telegraph Avenue to Bancroft Way
- This is the Southside of UC Berkeley
Westbound from Highway 13
- Continue on Highway 13, which becomes Tunnel Road
at the first stoplight
- Use the same street directions as Westbound from Highway
24 from step 2
Eastbound from Highway 80
- Exit at University Avenue
- Continue east approximately 2 miles to Oxford Street
- This is the Westside of UC Berkeley
Eastbound from Highway 580
- Exit to Highway 24 east, Walnut Creek/Berkeley
- Take first exit, 51st St. and Martin Luther King Jr. Way
- Turn right and proceed east on 51st Street for 2 blocks
- Turn left onto Telegraph Avenue to Bancroft Way
- This is the Southside of UC Berkeley
Eastbound from Highway 24
- Exit at 51st St. and Martin Luther King Jr. Way
- Use the same directions as Highway 580 from step 2
