One year ago, we announced the initiation of a fellowship in honor of Joseph T. Gregory, who joined the UCMP community in 1931 when he entered the university as a student. Joe returned to Berkeley in 1960 and, until his death in 2007, he was deeply involved in teaching and research, serving as a Professor of Paleontology, Chair of the Paleontology Department, and later Director of the Museum. In his will, Joe left a bequest to establish a fund to support graduate student research in the field of vertebrate paleontology. Now, thanks to the generosity of Joe's colleagues, former students, and friends and an additional gift from Carl and Faye Gregory, we are pleased to announce that we have received over $11,000 in additional donations, which brings the total value of the fund to more than $100,000. This spring we will be able to make our first award to support the field work of one of our students. We are extremely grateful to Joe, to the Gregory family, and to all of you for making this possible.
