Functional type: Smasher

Range: Andaman Sea, Indonesia, Northern Australia

Habitat: Coral reefs in rubble, live corals; areas with current

Depth: 1-20 m

Home: Cavities in hard substrate

Diet: Unknown, but probably small crustaceans and mollusks

Size: To 22 mm

Color: Brown or green with three white transverse bands

Distinguishing Characters: Broad white bands across the carapace and raptorial merus, 1st abdominal somite and 6th abdominal somite — anterior telson and uropods; white patches on the 1st maxillipeds

Activity: Unknown, but probably diurnal; secretive in burrow

Aquarium Requirements:

Temperature: 22–28° C

Salinity: 32–36 PSU

Cohabitants: Unknown

Aquarium size (adult): 10 l

Aquarium substrate: Small pieces of rubble with cavities

Suitability for Aquarium: Hardy, but secretive. Long lived and slow growing

Availability: Rare. Occasionally found as a hitchhiker in live rock.
