Functional type: Smasher

Range: Indonesia

Habitat: Rubble, strewn sand, and muck

Depth: 10–30 m

Home: Cavity

Diet: Small crustaceans, gastropods

Size: To at least 35 mm

Color: Variable, often green and cream transverse stripes, antennules orange

Distinguishing Characters: Orange meral spots, polarized blue spots on first maxillipeds, polarized purple patches on distal segments of 3–5 maxillipeds

Activity: Diurnal, spends most of its time in cavity entrance

Aquarium Requirements:

Temperature: 22–28° C

Salinity: 33–36 PSU

Cohabitants: Because of small size, should not be a treat to most other animals

Aquarium size (adult): 20 l

Aquarium substrate: Cavity in LR or coral rubble

Suitability for Aquarium: Hardy, interesting mating behavior, polarized displays

Availability: Rare
