9. The Geologic Time Scale is an important vertical timeline.

So far, we have learned that the evidence for the events in Earth's history is in the rocks. Their sequence tells us the relative order in which they happened and their chemistry gives us the actual dates of the events.

But remember that the Earth is billions of years old and a lot of events have taken place. How can we represent all of these events in an organized way?
