Getting Started

The purpose of Stories From the Fossil Record is to provide students with a basic understanding of how fossils can be used to interpret the past. There are four different pathways to explore: Biodiversity, Geologic Time, Paleoecology, and Past Lives.

Time Requirements

Teacher Preparation: 60-90 minutes to review the Teacher’s Guide and Tour
Module: Each section takes 10-15 minutes to complete, depending on student learning and reading level.

Grade Level

Stories From the Fossil Record is appropriate for grades 5-9. This recommendation is dependent on student learning and reading levels.

Preparation Steps
