Dickinsonia

Mystery Fossil #30

Dickinsonia fossils have been found in the Ediacara Hills of Australia and near the White Sea coast in northern Russia. Some grew up to a meter in length. Most scientists seem to think that Dickinsonia was a kind of annelid worm but others say it was a cnidarian polyp—but then it may be something else entirely. Find out more about Vendian animals here.
