Triassic Period: Stratigraphy

Subdivisions of the
Triassic:

The chart at left shows the major subdivisions of the Triassic Period. The youngest stage, the Rhaetian, is found only in the vicinity of the Alps, in Europe, and so some workers feel that it does not deserve global recognition.

This chart is mapped. Click to go forward to the Jurassic, or back to the end of the Paleozoic Era, the Permian Period.

The Triassic Period is part of the Mesozoic Era.
