Barry taking paleomag samples

The badlands in Russell Basin had been well described by other scientists, so Barry's and my first task was to take rock samples for paleomagnetic analysis, which would help give us better resolution on the relative age of the sediments. As we climbed higher in the section, the hills became more cliff-like, and it became harder to cut samples of unweathered rock. Barry had to lean out over the basin, into the wind, looking for a likely place.
