As a U. C. Berkeley undergrad, Sera worked initially as a volunteer in the Clemens Lab, then as a paid assistant. After more than a year, she had her first opportunity to go into the field with us, and received funds from the UCMP to join us. Getting to Montana was her first experience driving across this part of the U.S., and this was also the first camping trip she had ever been on! We discovered that she had many, previously unrecognized skills -- some of the photos in this exhibit are hers, and we also were startled by her awesome piano playing.
