Brian Swartz
M.Phil., Biological Science
Darwin College, University of Cambridge, 2006

I study basal tetrapodomorphs, other basal gnathostomes, and their paleobiology, functional morphology, and paleoecology. My research focuses on the description of a Givetian tristichopterid from Red Hill, NV, paired appendage function in stem tetrapods, and the paleoenvironmental setting of tetrapod origins. Other academic interests include the origin and evolution of skeletonization in vertebrates, the vertebrate skull, actinopterygian evolution, the history & philosophy of science, and science education. When not teaching or doing research, I am either surfing, exercising, or combating pseudoscience.

Please see my CV or email me at bobbitworm@berkeley.edu for more details.
